Bail Handled Jugs,  named so for their wire and wood handle,  were used as an advertising medium for many businesses and products of long ago.  Mineral water and vinegar were two popular uses for them and even ketchup was advertised on one early example.  During the early 1900’s,  the largest purchaser of bail handled jugs right up the road from our pottery was the mineral water industry in Excelsior Springs,  Missouri.  W.A.
